Ki'i Galleries offers the best value and the finest quality of Tahitian and South Sea Pearl jewelry. Each pearl is selected by us and designed into our original lost wax method findings. Most of our designs are fabricated here on Maui, with the exception of some pieces by national award-winning artists. All of our pearls are drilled and secured in their settings on pegs, using a space age adhesive for security. All pearls are authenticated as genuine Tahitian Pearls.
Generally, look for pearls of high luster (pearls that have a mirror-like quality on their surface), free of noticeable birthmarks(virtually all pearls have some surface irregularity, since they are, after all, not manufactured or calibrated). In most instances, a quality pearl can be set to expose its best 'face'. Pearls are graded by the naked eye, not a magnifying eyeglass.

Color is generally a matter of taste, although ironically the white, gold, and other lighter tones are often rarer. The most popular is the Peacock color, which has elements of blue, green and a dash of pink. Some colors are more complimentary to individual skin tones and eye color. Pearls which lean toward green are often complimentary to people with green eyes, etc.
Although round pearls command the highest prices, drop shapes are highly regarded, and more appropriate to particular designs. Baroque, or circlette (these have a characteristic natural circle) are preferred by many. Again, the most important factor is a clean surface and a mirror-like quality.
